TikTok link in bio requirements: how many followers do you need?
TikTok does not give every account a clickable website link. As of 2026 the rules generally look like this:
- Personal accounts usually need 1,000 or more followers before the Website field appears in Edit profile.
- You must be 18 or older. Accounts registered as under 18 do not get the website field.
- Business accounts can usually add a website without waiting for 1,000 followers.
TikTok changes these requirements from time to time and they can differ by country, so the only reliable check is your own app: open Edit profile and look for Website or Add your website. If it is not there, your account is not eligible yet.
Until then, links typed into captions and comments are not clickable, and a URL in your bio text is plain text too. You can still write your page name in the bio (for example “biolinko.me/yourname”) so determined fans can type it, but most will not.
Can a TikTok Business account add a link in bio?
Usually yes, and it is free. A Business account is the common route for shops, brands and service providers who have fewer than 1,000 followers.
- Open your profile and tap the menu (three lines) at the top.
- Go to Settings and privacy, then Account.
- Tap Switch to Business Account and pick the category closest to what you do.
- Go back to Edit profile and check whether the Website field is now available.
Know the trade-off before you switch: Business accounts can be limited to TikTok's commercial sound library, so some trending songs may not be available for your videos. If you are a creator who relies on trending audio, it may be worth growing to 1,000 followers on a personal account instead. Menu names move around between app versions, so if a step looks different, search TikTok's help centre for “Business Account”.
Recommended TikTok link in bio page setup
TikTok viewers tap through with one question: “where is the thing from that video?” They arrive inside TikTok's in-app browser, often mid-scroll, so the page has to be fast and obvious. Biolinko pages are pre-rendered and load in well under a second on 4G. Build it like this, top to bottom:
- Header with your TikTok photo and a short line like “Everything from my videos 👇”.
- Announcement bar for the video that is blowing up this week: “From the dorm-room video? Tap #14”.
- Link buttons, numbered to match your videos. Product-recommendation accounts label each button with a number (“#14 Desk lamp”) and say the number in the video. Viewers find the right link in seconds.
- Countdown if you have a launch, drop or live coming up.
- Video block with one TikTok played inline, for visitors who arrive from Google or Instagram and have not seen you yet.
- Email signup or Phone signup, so a banned sound or a reach dip does not cut you off from your audience.
- Social icons, including your TikTok, Instagram and YouTube.
How to add a link in bio on TikTok, step by step
- Create your free Biolinko page and paste the links you use most. Social profiles turn into icons and the rest into buttons automatically.
- Add the blocks from the setup above and number your product links.
- Copy your page address, biolinko.me/yourname. Use the same link in your Instagram bio so both audiences land in one place.
- In TikTok, go to Profile and tap Edit profile.
- Tap Website (or Add your website), paste the address and save.
- Write your bio. TikTok bios are 80 characters, so keep it to one line about what you post and one pointer to the link. Check it in the Bio Character Counter.
- Tap your new link from your own profile and from a friend's phone to check it opens properly inside TikTok.
Linktree for TikTok bio or Biolinko?
Both work in the TikTok Website field (see our full Linktree comparison). Linktree is the best-known option and, at the time of writing (September 2026), has a free plan with Linktree branding plus paid Starter, Pro and Premium tiers; check its pricing page for current details. Biolinko is free forever with up to 30 blocks and adds a native TikTok video block, a TikTok profile block, UPI and WhatsApp buttons.
If you run TikTok ads, Biolinko Pro ($5/month, ₹299 in India) lets you add your TikTok pixel to your page so you can measure what your ads lead to.
Honest note: no link in bio tool can unlock the Website field for you. If TikTok has not given your account a website link yet, fix eligibility first; the tool only matters once the field is there.
