How to add a link in bio on Instagram (iPhone and Android)
Here is how to add a link in bio on Instagram from the app. It takes under a minute, and the steps are the same on iPhone and Android and for personal, creator and business accounts.
- Open Instagram and tap your profile picture in the bottom-right corner to go to your profile.
- Tap Edit profile.
- Tap Links. On some app versions the row is labelled “Add link” or “Website”.
- Tap Add external link.
- Paste the full address, for example
https://biolinko.me/yourname. Add a title if you want a short label to show instead of the raw URL. - Tap Done (the checkmark on Android). Go back to your profile. The link now sits under your bio text and anyone can tap it.
Copy the address from your browser first and paste it, rather than typing it. A typo in the URL is the most common reason a “link in bio” goes nowhere.
How to add a link in bio on Instagram from a computer
- Go to instagram.com in your browser and log in.
- Click Profile in the left menu, then click Edit profile.
- Find the Links or Website field, add your URL and click Submit (or Save).
Instagram changes its web version often. On some accounts the desktop page only shows a note saying links can be edited in the mobile app. If that is what you see, use the app steps above. A link added from your phone shows on desktop too.
How to add multiple links to your Instagram bio
Since 2023 Instagram allows up to five links on a profile. Repeat the steps above and tap Add external link again for each one.
There is a catch. Only one link shows on your profile. The others hide behind a small “and 4 more” label, and a visitor has to tap it and then pick from a list. Many people never get that far, so treat the visible link as the one that really counts.
How to change the order
Open Edit profile → Links. In recent versions you can press and hold a link and drag it to a new position. If your app does not offer that, remove the links and add them back in a different order, then check your profile to see which one shows first.
When five links are not enough
Five plain URLs rarely cover a shop, a new video, a booking link, a WhatsApp chat and a newsletter signup, and the visitor only sees one of them anyway. That is where a link in bio page helps: one address with as many buttons as you need. More on that below.
How to change or edit the link in bio on Instagram
- Go to your profile and tap Edit profile → Links.
- Tap the link you want to change.
- Edit the URL or the title and tap Done. To delete it, tap Remove link instead (the wording can vary slightly between versions).
Changes show up straight away. If you swap your link for every new video, launch or offer, you end up editing your profile several times a week, and older posts that said “link in bio” stop making sense. A link in bio page fixes this: the link in Instagram never changes, and you update the page behind it.
How to add a link to Instagram Stories
Stories are the other place on Instagram where anyone can tap a link. Every account can use the link sticker.
- Tap +, choose Story and take or pick a photo or video.
- Tap the sticker icon at the top of the screen and choose Link.
- Paste the URL and, if you like, change the sticker text to something clear such as “Get the recipe”.
- Place the sticker where it is easy to see and share the Story.
Stories disappear after 24 hours unless you save them to a Highlight, so your profile link is still your permanent link. Captions, comments and Reels descriptions do not make links clickable, which is why creators say “link in bio” in the first place (see what “link in bio” means).
How to make a link in bio for Instagram that holds everything
A link in bio page is a small mobile web page made for that one profile link. Here is how to make one with Biolinko and add it to Instagram:
- Create a free account and pick your name. Your page goes live at biolinko.me/yourname.
- Pick a theme, or start from one of the templates (Creator, Musician, Fitness coach, Café, Freelancer, Course seller).
- Add blocks: link buttons, your latest YouTube video, a Spotify track, a WhatsApp chat button, a UPI pay button or an email signup. Social profile URLs you paste turn into a row of icons.
- Copy your page address and add it as your Instagram link using the steps above.
- Next time you post, update the page, not your profile. Put the newest thing at the top.
The Free plan is free forever with no card: 1 page, up to 30 blocks, all 8 themes and 30 days of click analytics, so you can see which posts actually send people to your link. Pro costs $5/month (₹299 in India) and adds selling, tracking pixels and link scheduling. See the Instagram link in bio setup for ideas.
When you do not need one: if you only ever send people to one website or one shop, put that URL straight into Instagram. A link in bio page earns its place once you have two or more places to send people.
While you are in Edit profile, check your bio text fits Instagram's 150-character limit with the free bio character counter.

Up to five. Only one shows on your profile; the rest sit behind an “and more” label that visitors have to tap to see.

You probably typed it into the bio text. URLs in the bio text, captions and comments show as plain text. Add it through Edit profile → Links instead.
Not in the caption. The clickable spots are your profile links, the Stories link sticker and paid ads, which is why creators say “link in bio”.
